Flight Team Receives Patient Save Award
May 24, 2011

One of HealthNet’s flight teams was recognized during Emergency Medical Services Week for an outstanding patient save.  Flight Paramedic Veronica Neale, Flight Nurse Terry Ratliff and Pilot Chris Wallace received the Beating the Odds Award, presented at the annual Scioto County, Ohio EMS Awards Ceremony.  The Beating the Odds award is presented annually to the team with the most outstanding patient outcome of the year.

On August 25, 2010 the team, assigned to HealthNet 4/MedFlight 7 in Scioto County, OH, responded to US Route 23 near Lucasville, OH to care for a female who was ejected from a motor vehicle in a rollover collision.  The patient suffered multiple traumatic injuries and received care from the flight team on scene and was safely flown to the Trauma Center at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV for continued care.  Days later the patient was discharged home with her family.

The award that the flight team received is displayed in the crew quarters at the helicopter base.
